Anterior cingulate cortex: In the human brain, the anterior cingulate cortex is the frontal part of the cingulate cortex that resembles a "collar" surrounding the frontal part of the corpus callosum. It consists of Brodmann areas 24, 32, and 33.
Anterior cruciate ligament: The anterior cruciate ligament is one of a pair of cruciate ligaments (the other being the posterior cruciate ligament) in the human knee. The 2 ligaments are also called cruciform ligaments, as they are arranged in a crossed formation.
Anterior pituitary: A major organ of the endocrine system, the anterior pituitary is the glandular, anterior lobe that together with the posterior lobe (posterior pituitary, or the neurohypophysis) makes up the pituitary gland (hypophysis). The anterior pituitary regulates several physiological processes, including stress, growth, reproduction, and lactation.
Anterior cruciate ligament injury: An anterior cruciate ligament injury occurs when the anterior cruciate ligament is either stretched, partially torn, or completely torn. The most common injury is a complete tear.
Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction is a surgical tissue graft replacement of the anterior cruciate ligament, located in the knee, to restore its function after an injury. The torn ligament can either be removed from the knee (most common), or preserved (where the graft is passed inside the preserved ruptured native ligament) before reconstruction an arthroscopic procedure.
