Arabic: Arabic or عَرَبِيّ, ʿarabīy, [ˈʕarabiː] (listen) or [ʕaraˈbij]) is a Semitic language that first emerged in the 1st to 4th centuries CE. It is now the lingua franca of the Arab world. It is named after the Arabs, a term initially used to describe peoples living in the area bounded by Mesopotamia in the east and the Anti-Lebanon mountains in the west, in Northwestern Arabia and in the Sinai Peninsula.
Arab–Israeli conflict: The Arab–Israeli conflict includes the political tension, military conflicts and disputes between Arab countries and Israel, which escalated during the 20th century, but had mostly faded out in the early 21st century. The roots of the Arab–Israeli conflict have been attributed to the support by Arab League member countries for the Palestinians, a fellow League member, in the ongoing Israeli–Palestinian conflict, which in turn has been attributed to the simultaneous rise of Zionism and Arab nationalism towards the end of the 19th century, though the two national movements had not clashed until the 1920s.
Arab Spring: The Arab Spring was a series of anti-government protests, uprisings, and armed rebellions that spread across much of the Arab world in the early 2010s. It began in response to oppressive regimes and a low standard of living, starting with protests in Tunisia.
Arabs: An Arab ) may be defined narrowly as a person descended from certain ancient tribes then inhabiting the Arabian Peninsula and surrounding areas or more broadly to include anyone who identifies as Arab, originates from an Arab country, participates in Arab culture and speaks the Arabic language. Arabs primarily live among the Arab states in Western Asia, Northern Africa, the Horn of Africa and Western Indian Ocean islands (including the Comoros).
